As a patient-led nonprofit organization, we’re passionate about contributing to research that could improve the lives of others living with fibromyalgia. That’s why we are thrilled to join the Community Advisory Board (CAB) for a groundbreaking research project led by Dr. Wen Liu at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC).
Dr. Wen Liu is a professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, and Athletic Training at KUMC. With a background in mechanical and biomedical engineering, he brings a unique interdisciplinary approach to his work. His research explores motor learning, postural control, and gait disorders in conditions like stroke and Parkinson’s disease, but he also investigates complementary therapies for chronic conditions.
What Is a Community Advisory Board (CAB)?
In research, especially for patient-focused studies, a CAB is a group of community members, often patients, caregivers, or advocates, who provide input to ensure the project is relevant, ethical, and practical. We’re not the scientists running the experiments; instead, we offer real-world perspectives to shape everything from study design to participant recruitment and result interpretation.
